Un mundo que canta unido en casa

Hace 35 años el mundo se unía luchando contra una hambruna sin precedentes que azotaba el cuerno de África, especialmente Etiopía.

Imágenes de cuerpos famélicos removieron las consciencias del mundo

Y el mundo se unió cantando:

Luchando para no volver a ver nunca estas imágenes,

Mientras el mundo cantaba,

Mientras la vida de niñas y niños inocentes de Etiopía se apagaba consumida por el hambre,

Mientras unos morían… otros nacían…

Y yo era uno de los que nacía…

Han pasado más de 35 años,

Pero no puedo olvidar

Que mientras el mundo cantaba

“We are the world”

Niñas y niños de Etiopía morían…

Y no lo puedo olvidar porque

Sigue pasando.

Ya no cantamos

“We are the world”

Pero siguen muriendo niñas y niños de hambre en Etiopía.

El hambre sigue existiendo,

Pero ya no la fotografiamos,

Y no debemos hacerlo,

es preciso respetar la dignidad de las personas.

Ahora,

Vivimos tiempo de Coronavirus,

El mundo se une

“One World Together at home”

Celebro la iniciativa, Buena sin duda alguna,

Pero también reivindico que

“Still, we are the World”

“Todavía, somos el Mundo”

Somos uno,

Pero ahora hemos aprendido a mirarnos de Igual a Igual,

Y ayudarnos, también de Igual a Igual,

Con dignidad y respeto,

Sin volver a repetir las imágenes denigrantes de los años 85

Nací en 1985. Tenía más probabilidades de nacer en África que en Europa, pero nací en Europa. Solo Dios sabe por qué.

Tenía más probabilidades de nacer en Etiopía que en España, pero nací en España. Solo Dios sabe por qué.

Eso marcó la diferencia. Solo Dios sabe por qué.

Nací en Barcelona un 29 de marzo de 1985. Ese mismo día, en Etiopía nacía otro niño como yo, pero en medio de una gran hambruna en la región.

Nacía entre paredes de adobe. Sin asistencia sanitaria. La madre podía haber muerto en el parto. El niño probablemente moriría a los pocos días.

Nací en Barcelona, en un hospital y en una excelente familia. Eso marcó la diferencia. Solo Dios sabe por qué.

He tenido infancia, una alimentación equilibrada, amor en la familia, amigos y amigas, he ido a la escuela incluso a la universidad. Y sigo vivo.

Mientras yo jugaba sin preocupaciones, otros niños “jugaban” a sobrevivir buscando comida desesperadamente para no morir.

Mientras yo escupía la comida, otros niños no tenían nada que llevarse a la boca.

No hice nada para merecer nacer donde nací, por tener una gran infancia, por vivir… Solo Dios sabe por qué.

Nací dónde nací. Es una gran responsabilidad. Ahora toca asumir la responsabilidad. Ahora toca igualar.

Todos los niños y niñas merecen las mismas oportunidades independientemente del lugar donde nazcan, de nacer niño o niña, y de la religión que profesen.

Dónde naces te marca, pero lo importante es para qué naces. Cuál es tu misión en la vida… Solo Dios lo sabe.

Pienso que cuando buscamos el bien y el Amor del prójimo no nos podemos equivocar.

Nací. Podría haber nacido en cualquier lugar del mundo.

Nací en el mundo y para el mundo.

Nací en… Lo importante no es dónde nací, sino para quién nací.
