La Fundación para la Cooperación Internacional de la Organización Médica Colegial (FCOMCI), con motivo de la conmemoración del Día del cooperante, ha convocado una rueda de prensa y una jornada posterior para presentar una declaración apoyada por la profesión médica europea y mundial contra el hambre infantil y la violencia hacia los sanitarios en Gaza. El acto tendrá lugar el próximo viernes, 5 de septiembre, de 11:00 a 13:00 en la sede de la OMC.
Ante la situación actual en Gaza, la Organización Médica Colegial (OMC) insiste en que se respete el derecho humanitario y no se permita que la población civil y en especial los niños y niñas de Gaza se mueran de hambre o se les niegue la atención médica. Asimismo, la OMC reitera su condena expresa a los ataques a los centros de salud y al personal sanitario y exige su cese.
Por este motivo, durante la rueda de prensa se presentará un manifiesto apoyado por la profesión médica europea y mundial contra el hambre infantil y la violencia hacia los sanitarios en Gaza. Además, se contará con testimonios directos sobre la situación sanitaria de la infancia en Gaza.
Cerca de 18 000 niños han muerto en este conflicto; niños preadolescentes están ingresando con heridas de bala, muchos menores están muriendo de desnutrición crónica y es posible que los que sobreviven nunca se recuperen por completo.
